Raden Ahmad Kosasih was born in Bogor. Coming from a noble family, Kosasih was well educated. After he graduated from schools, Kosasih spent his days drawing and watching wayang golek (golek puppet show). In 1939, Kosasih worked in Bogor Department of Agriculture (Departement van Landbouw) as an artist to draw animals and plants.
Kosasih later worked as a comic artist in a publishing company, Melodie, where he created the first ever Indonesian superhero, Sri Asih, in 1954 under the name of RA Kosasih. Sri Asih comic was an instant hit and Kosasih then created another superheroine, Siti Gahara. Kosasih was also famously known in Indonesia for creating the Mahabarata Trilogy and Ramayana comic book series.
On 24 July 2012, RA Kosasih passed away.
