Jakarta, July 6 – Screenplay Bumilangit released the first teaser for “Sri Asih”, the superhero film starring Pevita Pearce. The film, which is part of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe, was directed by Upi, written by Upi and Joko Anwar. Sri Asih previously appeared in the film “Gundala” directed by Joko Anwar in 2019. “Sri Asih” will soon be showing in Indonesian cinemas.

In the 1-minute teaser video, the audience is shown Pevita Pearce in her role as Sri Asih. In addition, decorated Indonesian film stars, such as Christine Hakim, Surya Saputra, and Jefri Nichol were also shown.

In Indonesian comics history, the character Sri Asih is the first ever superhero to appear in Indonesian comics. Sri Asih first appeared in 1953. Its creator, R.A. Kosasih is recognized as the “Father of Indonesian Comics”, for his dedication, consistency, and expertise in creating illustrated stories.

Upi, director and screenwriter of “Sri Asih” expressed his enthusiasm for bringing Sri Asih to the big screen, “This film has been in development for more than 2 years. We are prepared well. Not only from the technical point of view, but also from the storytelling. I can’t wait to release it to the public.”

Joko Anwar, producer and screenwriter of “Sri Asih”, said that this film will continue the tradition of Bumilangit Cinematic Universe by placing the best talents in front and behind the scenes, with surprises and fresh excitement for all audiences.

The film “Sri Asih” is part of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe, which opened with its first ‘patriot’, namely Gundala (airing 29 August 2019). Sri Asih is now presented as the 2nd ‘patriot’. It doesn’t stop there, the breadth of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe will continue in other films and series being produced by the studio, Screenplay Bumilangit. These include “Virgo and the Sparklings” (starring Adhisty Zara), as well as the series “Tira” (played by Chelsea Islan) to be broadcast exclusively on the Disney+ channel.

With more than 1,200 comic characters owned by Bumilangit, it is certain that Jagat Sinema Bumilangit will be an exciting presentation, through storytelling breakthroughs and satisfying productions for Indonesian audiences.
