| JAN MINTARAGA

Jan Mintaraga was born in Jogjakarta and came from a family that had arts as its legacy. Young Jan loved to draw since his childhood and were frequently asked to present his works in the class. In 1952, young Jan and his family moved to Jakarta.

Once Jan graduated from his high school, he enrolled in ASRI Jogjakarta and then ITB (Interior Design), of which neither degrees were completed by him. In his early part of his career, Jan created many different genre of comics, such as romantic, martial arts, wayang and historical comics. Jan was eventually known to create his superhero comics with Kapten Halilintar and Virgo as the top characters.

In 14 December 1999, Jan passed away.
